First episode of a new minecraft podcast. Sounds good guys. A bit too much non-minecraft talk for my taste, but I’m looking forward to more!
I wonder why you speculate so much about paid DLC for minecraft? Is there any suggestion by Notch that he would do this?
As for sand/gravel, the best uses I’ve found: you can powermine gravel to get flint - just build a tall column of it and then dig straight down, repeat until you get enough flint.
You can also use them to get down from a tall place without jumping or destroying what you have built — for example if you built a tall column of stone as part of a structure. Just place blocks of sand against the side of the column (be sure not to be standing on the edge) — the sand will fall to the ground and stack up in a column. You can then dig down through the sand to get to the bottom safely.
